On September 3, LS Cable & System (President & CEO Roe-hyun Myung) announced that it will grant KRW100 million for Donghae-si, Gangwon-do’s social welfare facilities, etc. through its social welfare community-chest drive.

Mr. Jong-pil Kim, LS C& S Energy Business Division Director, Mr. Gyu-eon Shim, Mayor of Donghae-si, and people in charge of local social welfare facilities attended the granting ceremony held this day in Donghae City Hall.

The support fund will be used to purchase vans, support culture and arts education for the handicapped, and improve housing facilities for neglected people, etc.

LS C&S entered a relationship with Donghae-si in 2009 when it constructed a manufacturing facility for submarine cables in Donghae-si. Ever since, it has continued its social contribution activities for prosperous co-existence.

As well as supporting neglected citizens, LS C&S annually hosts ‘Job Schooling’ fairs to give university students opportunities for job training and provides its ‘LS Dream Science Class’ for elementary school students. In May, the company also actively fostered talents in the local community by, among other activities, such as donating KRW500 million to a specially designated support fund.

In addition, LS C& S uses its specialized knowledge of cables to conduct electrical safety inspections of local traditional markets. Before Chuseok this year, company engineers will be conducting inspections and replacement of cables as well as providing safety education for more than 50 markets in the areas where the company is established, such as Donghae-si, Gwangju Metropolitan City, and Gumi in Gyeongbuk Province.
