LS Cable & System announced on the 24th that it will supply large-scale power distribution system bus ducts to the Canadian battery plant of NextStar Energy.
NextStar Energy is an electric vehicle (EV) battery joint venture established by LG Energy Solution and Stellantis. It is building a large-scale plant in Windsor, Ontario.
Bus ducts are systems that supply power with a plate conductor inserted in a metallic case. As they are installed through assembly, installation and transportation are convenient. They can also reduce power consumption by at least 30%.
“The North American market is growing rapidly following the construction of the large-scale EV, battery and semiconductor plant and data center,” explained a representative of the company. “We expect that bus duct sales in North America will be as high as USD 100 million a year by 2030.”
In particular, bus ducts are expected to record high growth as a result of an expansion of data center establishments in line with the development of the AI industry. They support stable AI operation by efficiently managing power supply to data centers, which are high-power facilities.
Based on its technological power, LS Cable & System has secured the largest market share in Korea and now plans to actively target the global market through LS Eco Energy’s Vietnamese plant and the new plant in Mexico.
