LS Cable & System (President & CEO Roe-hyun Myung) announced that it would donate KRW100 million to the facilities for the disabled in Donghae, Gangwon for the purchase of vehicles and a repair facility.
On October 17th, LS Cable & System held a ceremony at Donghae City Hall to celebrate its sponsoring of facilities for the disabled in Donghae and delivery of "dream cars" through the Community Chest of Korea. The funds were disbursed to five social welfare facilities in Donghae, and will be used to purchase two wheelchair equipped vans, repair facilities and other related equipment.
Kwon Young-il, Executive Vice President, Submarine System Business Group, Kim Jong-moon, deputy mayor of Donghae, and officials from the facilities for the disabled attended the ceremony.
Ever since LS C&S became associated with Donghae in 2009 when it completed the construction of its submarine cable plant there, the company has been continuously carrying out social contribution activities in the local community with its employees playing the central role.
For example, the volunteer corps of the employees of the Donghae Plant known as "Jeongnanumhoe" (Association for Sharing Love) helps senior citizens living alone in the area, conducts electric safety inspections in traditional markets, provides a science class for elementary schools known as the ‘Dream Science Class,’ and also provides industry-university cooperation in the form of practical industrial job skills training with a local university.
Kwon Young-il, Executive Vice President, Submarine System Business Group, said, "As with the past 10 years, we will continue to seek win-win relationships with the local community.”
