      Date 2018-04-02

      ■ Realizing ‘workplace without overtime’ by establishing a 40hr workweek
      ■ Improving work efficiency, e.g. work dieting, e-mails, verbal reporting
      ■ Various communication programs established to better link top management and employees

LS Cable & System (Roe-Hyun Myung, President & CEO) announced on April 2nd that the company would  no longer have overtime starting in April.

The company is planning to create a workplace without overtime by effectively establishing a 40-hour workweek in compliance with the Government’s plan to reduce working hours.

To this end, the company will publicly announce the closing time everyday and turn out the lights in offices shortly after 5:00pm. Employees are encouraged to refrain from using messengers for business communication after work. LS C &S is considering the "PC Off" program and flexible work arrangement for overseas business divisions, and supplement the policy after a one-month trial.

Roe-Hyun Myung, CEO of LS C &S, said, “The work culture must focus more on quality time than quantity. Overtime is not to be seen so much as a virtue anymore but more as a sign of inefficiency.”

LS C &S will also conduct a campaign to increase work engagement and efficiency by means of "work dieting", i.e. reducing unnecessary work, and using e-mail and verbal reporting instead of written reports. It will also promote electronic approval so that the CEO will be able to sign electronic documents submitted by employees remotely.
