LS Cable & System and LS Electric will jointly participate in the world's largest electric systems exhibition in Paris, France, to showcase new projects such as Internet data center (IDC) solutions.

LS Cable & System announced on the 26th that it will participate in the CIGRE 2024 (International Council on Large Electric Systems) exhibition with LS Electric from the 25th to the 30th (local time).

CIGRE is an international organization established in 1921 to share cutting-edge technologies and research results in the electric power sector. It hosts academic conferences and exhibitions every two years, and this year’s CIGRE event will see 290 companies and institutions from 120 countries discuss the future of the electric power industry.

At this year’s exhibition, LS Cable & System and LS Electric will showcase superconducting solutions for IDCs including superconducting cable systems and superconducting current limiters.

As the AI industry develops, the demand for IDCs is rapidly increasing, but the construction of new substations is difficult due to issues with resident acceptance and the burden of project costs. The superconductivity solution is an innovative technology that can transmit 154 kV-grade large-capacity power at the low voltage of 22.9 kV without a substation.

LS Cable & System will exhibit its latest technologies and products related to power grids, including high voltage direct current (HVDC) submarine cables, and LS Electric will exhibit eco-friendly switchgear for substations.

“LS Cable & System's HVDC submarine cables and LS Electric's substation facilities are world-class, but they are experiencing supply difficulties due to the rapid increase in demand,” said a company official. “Through close cooperation, we will continue to lead the global power market and further improve our position in Korea.”
