LS Cable & System announced on the 1st that it had donated KRW 100 million to Donghae City in Gangwon Province through the Community Chest of Korea for a project to “overcome low birth rates,” etc.

The donation ceremony, held at Donghae City Hall, was attended by Director Yeo Sang-cheol of the Donghae Plant of LS Cable & System and Donghae City Mayor Shim Gyu-eon.

Through cooperation with the Donghae City Family Center and the Donghae Branch of the Korea Association for Youth Service, LS Cable & System will support childcare for infants and toddlers, and educational activities for elementary school students from the vulnerable class.

LS Cable & System will also continue to promote programs to strengthen family function and the emotional stability of child abuse victims by participating in Sharing of Love, a campaign to support families of child abuse victims, which it also participated in last year.

“Childbirth and childcare are issues that must be addressed by each entity in local communities,” said Director Yeo Sang-cheol of the Donghae Plant of LS Cable & System. “As a company representing Donghae City, we will contribute to spreading a positive childcare culture.”

LS Cable & System’s relationship with Donghae City started when the company built a submarine cable plant there in 2009. The company finalized an additional investment of approximately KRW 100 billion for the extension of five submarine cable production buildings last month. Its total investments so far add up to approximately KRW 1 trillion.
